The wait is finally over. The Makeup by Mario highly-anticipated SurrealSkin Foundation is about to launch in the UK (3rd July) and we couldn't wait to get first dibs and tell you all about it. Rumour has it that this is the biggest launch for the branch after rave reviews from stateside stans. This complexion masterpiece created by Kim Kardashian's go-to, day one fav MUA, Mario Dedivanovic is making its grand entrance at Sephora UK both in-store and online in just three days…
The foundation was formulated to offer a lightweight and breathable texture that effortlessly hydrates and adheres to the skin. It's designed to be buildable, provide a radiant glow in an instant and give you long-lasting coverage. And Mario made sure to be inclusive of all complexions with an offering of 30 flexible shades to choose from.
The meticulously crafted formula of this SurrealSkin Foundation also carries MoistureGrip™ technology – which is powered by a botanical blend of vegan squalene and grapeseed oil – to hydrate your skin without slipping. Whether you prefer a buildable coverage or a sheer, natural look, the formula is supposed to seamlessly integrate with creams and powders, allowing you to achieve Mario's signature techniques effortlessly.
But, does it actually look as good as it sounds? Here, five GLAMOUR staffers with five different skin tones and types tried it out to report back...

Okay, I confess I'm not in my foundation era – especially in the summer, when it gets hot and sticky. I prefer not to have it, than having to deal with it melting off my face. However, it would be dishonest of me to sit here and tell you that it doesn't make a difference if you're going for the most seamless skin finish. I actually forgot how much of difference it makes to your overall complexion by skipping foundation and going straight to concealer, until I tried this foundation.
Mario you've hit the nail on the head. The formula is chefs kiss: buildable, lightweight, and leaves you with that seamless dewy, sunkissed finish that I love. A little does go a long way, and if you're going for a natural look it will give you just that. Fine, I give in. Adding this to makeup routine, expeditiously.

I’ve been wanting to try Makeup by Mario’s foundation since I first heard about it, with every review I've seen having been overwhelmingly positive. I was expecting big things from Kim K's go-to makeup artist, and safe to say those expectations were met.
Right off the bat I loved the texture of the product, with it applying and blending easily, giving an instant luminous glow. No need to be wary of the shimmer of the bottle because this translates into a semi-sheer 'your skin but better' result when applied. Once on, the product didn’t feel overly heavy or drying and lasted well through the day with no need to touch up. I liked that it felt buildable, with the first application going on evenly and drying down. Put simply, if you’re after effortlessly glowy skin, SurrealSkin is for you.

This. Foundation. This!! Foundation!! I was sceptical when I first saw how shimmery the formula was in the bottle, as an oily girlie I tend to stay away from foundations that'll make me too glowy and opt for more matte finishes. However, when you apply the product to your skin, the shimmer is nowhere near as punchy as it is in the bottle. The finish was absolutely gorgeous, the perfect balance of glowy, dewy skin and blurred-out. As soon as I put it on, people asked what foundation I was wearing – it's that good. I loved the coverage it gave in just one application, it covered my dark spots while still looking like my skin. This has cemented itself in my top-tier foundations, thank you Mario!

Ever since Mario's foundation broke the beauty internet in the states, I've been prowling to get my hands on it here. I'm spoilt in that I get to try plenty of foundation formulas with my job, so it takes a lot to blow me away, but phewf, Mario obviously knows what he's doing. This foundation takes all the best bits of matte, dewy, lightweight and long-wearing foundations and blends them all into one superhero formula. It feels fairly weightless, but it stays put like a champion. It offers coverage, without compromising on glow. It buffs beautifully into skin. It plays nice with other products and formulas. It's shade range is considered and inclusive. I'm struggling to find a fault. Unsurprisingly, it's made it straight into my makeup bag. Full marks for our boy, Mario.

I've been suffering with pretty severe hormonal acne recently, so full coverage foundations have become my best friends. That said, a matte finish tends to come with the territory of those types of formulas, which I'm not such a fan of, so I've been searching high and low for something that covers every blemish but that doesn't make me look flat. Reader, I think I've found it. Makeup by Mario's SurrealSkin is exactly that: your skin but better. I look glowy and radiant, like I've just applied my skincare, but with a photo-ready finish that could give the Kardashians a run for their money. It performs well with all my other products (cream and powder), and has so far stood the test of an ultra busy work week with minimal touch-ups required. Thank you uncle Mario, I knew I could rely on you.
